Enriching the visitor experience: Augmented reality and image recognition in tourism

摘要: Technology and tourism have a long legacy as reflected upon by Buhalis Law (2008; 2014). Within this, mobile technology augmented reality (AR) has come to the fore more recently within last five years (e.g. Pesonen Horster, 2012; Yovcheva et al Linaza Wang al, 2012). However, while AR been developed in range of contexts, focus this paper lies role it plays enhancing visitor experience arts heritage tourism. This critiques opportunities affords enriching whilst recognising pressures cultural organisations face developing creative innovative ways displaying interpreting artefacts. Secondly, presents challenges producing that supports an intuitive, easy use multimedia guide for interpretation cost resource efficient manner.
