摘要: This paper reports on a study that analyzed the research output of higher education systems in select number Latin American countries and its relationship to several socio-economic technological success indicators. was placed within broader discussion changing role university society. The used rankings surveyed with respect two major indicators: 1. training (Global Competiveness Report 2012-2013) 2. scientific productivity institutions (HEI) as measured by papers published international, peer reviewed journals archived Scopus Database (Elsevier B.V.) available SIR Iberoamericano Ranking Reports 2009-2013. both indicators various technology examined assess extent which quality country’s system affected country performance indices such global competitiveness, innovation, health primary education, government effectiveness, knowledge GDP per capita. between form published, refereed investment R&D, researcher headcount million inhabitants institutes well. findings at level were compared effectiveness level. found that, notwithstanding huge variation existed studied survey, rank average HEI publication record correlates important Although improvements have been made many still trail their counterparts area publication.
