摘要: Women disproportionately suffer from many deep tissue pain conditions. Experimental studies show that women have lower thresholds, higher ratings and less tolerance to a range of painful stimuli. Most clinical epidemiological reports suggest female gonadal hormones modulate for some, but not all, Similarly, animal support greater nociceptive sensitivity in females models. Gonadal responses primary afferents, dorsal horn neurons supraspinal sites, the direction modulation is variable. This review will examine sex differences humans animals focusing on role (mainly estradiol) as an underlying component sensitivity.
