HIV/AIDS-related knowledge, attitudes, and practices among Managuan secondary school students.

摘要: The authors assessed the AIDS-related knowledge attitudes and practices of final (5th) year students at 4 Managuan high schools in 1990. Completed self-administered questionnaires were received from 155 males 296 females mean age 18 years. 86% respondents knew that AIDS is transmitted sexually but far fewer aware other transmission pathways effective preventive measures. 55% 33% cited condom use as a measure. 90% 50% reported having had sexual intercourse. Further 60% very worried about only 23% considered themselves risk contracting AIDS. 38% boys 7% girls changing their behavior because This change was strongly associated with concern not for perception personal risk. In sum this paper documents general existence inadequate prevention among these especially females. Preventive efforts should target such female youths health sex education interventions.
