摘要: Prostate cancer is the primary in males, with increasing global incidence rates making this malignancy a significant healthcare burden. Androgens not only promote normal prostate maturity but also influence development and progression of cancer. Intriguingly, evidence now suggests endogenous exogenous oestrogens, form phytoestrogens, may be equally as relevant androgens growth. The gland has molecular mechanisms, catalysed by steroid sulphatase (STS), to unconjugate utilise circulating oestrogens. Furthermore, tissue expresses enzymes essential for local oestrogen metabolism, including aromatase (CYP19A1) 3β- 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenases. Increased expression these malignant compared indicates that synthesis favoured thus tumour progression. In contrast previous reviews, here we comprehensively explore epidemiological scientific on how oestrogens impact cancer, particularly focusing pre-receptor metabolism subsequent action. We analyse mechanisms metabolic pathways involved androgen intertwine alter tissue. speculate whether receptor status affects malignancy.
