摘要: Background: The knowledge of sacral hiatus anatomy is crucial in clinical situations requiring caudal epidural block for various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures the lumbosacral spine to avoid complications failure rate. This study was undertaken compare morphometric characteristics human dry sacra pelvic radiographs placing needle more accurately landmarks permit correct, painless, uncomplicated accesses. Materials methods: present done on 138 adult 110 anteroposterior North Karnataka region India. Sacral evaluated each sacrum based its shape, level apex, base according coccygeal vertebrae, length, diameter at transverse width base. Results:The mean length men women 27.81+1.17 mm 24.73+2.21 mm, respectively. apex 6.24+2.73 males 6.63+2.81 females. 17.56+1.81 17.92+2.59 location highest number fourth vertebra (23.63%). all S3 showed 49.09% maximum. observed fifth (64.54%). In study, different shapes were recorded. most common shape females inverted U (42.02%), followed by V (26.08%) dumbbell (12.31%). least bifid (5.07%). 2.17% cases, absent. Percentage absence, agenesis, irregular, found rather female than male sacra. An view radiograph agenesis both (7.81%) (4.34%). anatomical variations are important anesthesia, it may improve success rate anesthesia.
