On the connexion between stability and the shape of the equilibrium surface

摘要: Abstract The central feature of the paper is a general account systematic ‘static perturbation technique.’ This used to explore close connexion existing in certain problems between failure stability and some characteristic features shape an ‘equilibrium surface’ defined here. technique expounded for finite-dimensional only, order permit simple unified method. Such has not been given before. Applications treated include role bifurcation points stationary on equilibrium paths, sensitivity imperfections. effect elasticity loading devices also discussed. ideas involved can be explain wide difference buckling post-buckling behaviours found engineering frame, plate shell structures under conservative loading. These phenomena provide main motivation this prototype theory. results methods apply two types rotating systems, as explained herein.
