摘要: This research evaluated and demonstrated the disinfection efficiency of an electrochemical system for total coliform removal from wastewater effluents after secondary treatment. Four bench scale batch cells were assembled operated in laboratory: first electro-disinfection reactor was set with aluminum electrodes, second standard 316 stainless steel third one titanium fourth a cathode anode. During process water sample placed on reactor/disinfector to which direct current (DC) charged. The results showed that counts treated decreased significantly characteristics effluent highly improved, especially when or electrodes employed. A bactericidal 98.7 % higher achieved within contact time less than 15 min density lower 7.5 mA/cm2 used, 5 3.5 steel/titanium cell utilized. Electrochlorination does not seem be predominant disinfective means process. Production other short lived more powerful killing substances such as H2O2, [O], •OH, •HO2 provide strong disinfecting action time. generally increased time, impact these factors much larger salinity. obtained suggest this treatment is applicable effluents. However, further investigation optimum operating conditions detailed comparative study energy consumption by conventional methods are needed before constructing industrial application future. It also indispensable find out if halogenated hydrocarbons toxic compounds produced during
