摘要: Abstract Previous electrophysiological and neuroimaging studies suggest that the mismatch negativity (MMN) is generated by a temporofrontal network subserving preattentive auditory change detection. In two experiments we employed event-related brain potentials (ERP) functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to examine neural hemodynamic activity related deviance processing, using three types of deviant tones (small, medium, large) in both pitch space condition. condition, right superior temporal gyrus (STG) increased as function deviance. Comparisons between small medium large deviants revealed prefrontal activation inferior frontal (IFG; BA 44/45) middle (MFG; 46), whereas relative led left IFG (BA activation. ERP experiment amplitude early MMN (90–120 ms) deviance, this paralleling STG fMRI experiment. A U-shaped relationship degree was observed late time window (140–170 resembling pattern. subsequent source analysis constrained foci, could be modeled dipoles placed IFG, respectively. spatial condition no reliable observed. The substantially smaller than for all contrast it window. We argue mediates detection case low discriminability sensory memory trace input. This mechanism might part top-down modulation system STG.
