摘要: Abstract Excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) based ratiometric fluorescence sensing of 2-(2′-hydroxyphenyl)benzimidazole (HPBI) and its nitrogen substituted analogues viz. 2-(2′-hydroxyphenyl)-3 H -imidazo[4,5- b ]pyridine (HPIP-b) 2-(2′-hydroxyphenyl)-1 c (HPIP-c) towards different metal ions was studied. The normal to tautomer intensity ratio HPBI increases as high 143 92 folds in presence Cu 2+ Fe 3+ , respectively. HPIP-b reaches maximum up 4.7 fold Co that HPIP-c 11.6 Pd . increase the emission is attributed inhibition ESIPT process. crystal structure 1:2 Ni complex indicates ion coordinates through imidazole phenolic oxygen fluorophores.
