摘要: Abstract Two laboratory scale biological reactors with hollow fibre incorporated to provide bubbleless aeration a biofilm attached the membrane wall were investigated during nitrification of synthetic wastewater high in ammonia (30–50 mg l−1). Pure oxygen on lumen side fibres was transported through pores directly without formation bubbles. As consequence usage efficiency is significantly increased. During 51 d investigation volumetric nitrogen loading rate increased from 0.08 0.20 kg NH4−N m−3 d−1. At highest rates approaching d−1 achieved. The dissolved concentration bulk liquid phase stayed well above critical. Hollow-fibre mass transfer bioreactors (MBR) show promise providing small-footprint alternative conventional tertiary processes.
