Online ill-structured problem-solving strategies and their influence on problem-solving performance

摘要: Ill-structured problem-solving ability is key to success in our personal and professional lives. A small but growing body of research has investigated ill-structured problems; however, little if any examined strategies that individuals use while solving problems the context a web-based environment. Further, this not addressed relationship between these performance. Two objectives were current study. The first objective was characterize students’ problemsolving Web-based Cluster analysis revealed four groups students who approached same online task considerably different ways. Some tended focus on writing tasks, others focused exploring resources. Students also differed their resource use, degree which they discriminated relevant from irrelevant second examine effect Forced-order hierarchical regression showed used significant predictors problem performance when learner characteristics had been controlled. Results study are discussed light previous research, implications for educators researchers presented.
