摘要: Human immunodeficiency virus types 1 and 2 (HIV-1 HIV-2), the causative agents of acquired syndrome (AIDS), are RNA viruses belonging to genus Lentivirus family Retroviridae. Like all retroviruses, replication involves reverse transcription genome into a double-stranded DNA molecule, with subsequent integration host genome. This integrated retroviral is referred as provirus. Due this complex replicative cycle, molecular assays used in diagnosis management HIV-1 infection may target either or proviral DNA.
