The Couette-Taylor problem

摘要: This monograph presents a systematic and unified approach to the non-linear stability problem transitions in Couette-Taylor problem, by means of analytic constructive methods. The most "elementary" one-parameter theory is first presented. More complex situations are then analyzed (mode interactions, imperfections, non-spatially periodic patterns). whole analysis based on mathematically rigorous centre manifold normal forms, symmetries fully taken into account. These methods very general can be applied other hydrodynamical instabilities, or more generally physical problems modelled partial differential equations.
