Multiple morphologies of self-assembled star aggregates of amphiphilic PEO-b-PNPMA diblock copolymers in solution, synthesis and micellization

摘要: Abstract Novel amphiphilic block copolymers, poly(ethylene oxide)- b -poly( p -nitrophenyl methacrylate) (PEO- -PNPMA) with controlled molecular weights and narrow weight distribution were successively synthesized by ATRP of NPMA using PEO–Br as initiator. Self-assembling the diblock copolymer PEO 113 - -PNPMA 28 in different solvent mixtures yielded various morphologies star micelle-like aggregates, such spheres, vesicles, cauliflower-like aggregates rod-like which are determined nature common solvents selective solvents. Thus critical contents PNPMA-rich phase measured, they have following order: ethanol > methanol > water, THF > CH 3 NO 2  > DMSO. The probable self-assembling mechanism is discussed. This method convenient for preparation multiple morphological solution, especially from copolymers relatively longer shell.
