摘要: A large number of treatment options exist for osteoarthritis the knee and hip. The choice therapy depends on clinical symptomatology, preexisting risk factors (e.g. obesity), disease stage. This review includes novel aspects symptomatic conservative (physical medicine drugs), especially pain management (electrotherapy), rehabilitational aspects. Rehabilitation is essential, as a chronic condition, that requires lifelong intervention, causal cure has not been identified yet. New hyaluronic acid, slow-acting drugs in (chondroitin sulfate, glucosamine diacerein), experimental drugs, which claim properties modification (bisphosphonates, calcitonin, interleukin-1 antagonists), are discussed.
