Utilization of oral antihyperglycemic drugs over a 7–year period (1998–2004) in a Hungarian population and adherence to drug therapy

摘要: To describe the quantitative and qualitative changes in utilization of oral antihyperglycemic drugs (OAHDs) between 1998 2004 to analyze patients’ adherence OAHD therapy. We conducted a retrospective analysis electronic database Hungarian National Health Fund Administration for years through 2004. All 912,620 prescriptions OAHDs dispensed 38,855 patients Csongrad County (430,000 inhabitants) were retrieved analyzed according ATC/DDD (World Organization) methodology. Nonadherence was set as medication possession ratio <80%. The number using significantly increased (P<0.001); yearly prevalence 2.88% 4.32% overall consumption by 76%, from 20.85 defined daily doses per 1,000 inhabitants day (DDD/TID) 36.83 DDD/TID While glibenclamide most often prescribed agent, received 61.7% patients, its share dropped 16.1% 2004, metformin became leading agent 43.0% patients. During study period, rate varied 47.9% 49.2%. Women had better (P<0.001) than men, 51.3% vs. 45.5%. peaked 60 79 lowest their 30s. pattern considerably changed, but there no significant adherence. increase is not result patient number.
