摘要: Connected and automated vehicle (CAV) technologies have a promising future in improving traffic safety, including mitigating crash severity decreasing the possibility of crashes by offering warnings to drivers and/or assuming control dangerous situations. Given complexities technology interactions details, overall safety impacts multiple CAV not yet been estimated. This research seeks fill that gap using most current U.S. General Estimates System records estimate economic functional-years crash-related savings from each application. Safety benefits Forward Collision Warning, Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control, Do Not Pass Control Lost Intersection Avoidance Systems, Electronic Stability other safety-related CAV-type are estimated here. Results suggest eleven technologies, such as when combined with can save Americans $76 billion year (along almost 740,000 functional-life-years saved per year). These estimates based on pre-crash scenarios depict critical event occurring immediately prior (e.g., rear-end intersection related situations) under conservative effectiveness scenario assumptions; due avoidance moderation severities. Among various combinations driving situations applications, Warning coupled is anticipated offer biggest benefits, saving more than $53 (in costs) 497,100 functional person-years 2013.
