摘要: Comparative studies of primordial germ cell (PGC) development across organisms in many phyla reveal surprising diversity the route migration, timing and underlying molecular mechanisms, suggesting that process migration itself is conserved. However, beyond perfunctory transport cellular precursors to their later arising home gonads, does PGC serve a function? Here we propose plays an additional role quality control, by eliminating PGCs incapable completing as well through mechanisms favor capable responding appropriately cues. Focusing on mice, explore evidence for selective capacity considering tandem regulation proliferation cell-intrinsic extrinsic potential tumors derived from failed migrants, which migratory vary behaviors, corresponding effects development. We discuss implications vitro gametogenesis.
