摘要: The aim of this research is to produce activated carbons derived from polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fiber and examine their feasibility removing heavy metals aqueous solution. Thermogravimetric analysis was used identify the suitable conditions for preparing oxidized coke as carbon precursors. Steam CO2 were activate Activated characterized by pore texture, elemental compositions surface functionalities. Batch adsorption desorption studies carried out determine metal-binding ability carbons. Two commercial fibers (ACFs), i.e., A-20 W10-W, employed compare removal performance PAN Influence oxidation treatment prior steam activation also explored discussed. Results indicated that produced a higher area but lower resultant yield compared CO2. Also, precursors showed greater performance. For both methods, displayed better than coke. A small nitrogen loss result assisted Cu(II) Pb(II), interaction found stronger. It proposed formation cyclized structure minimized during activation, hence increased uptake
