摘要: We propose a novel photonic approach for generating background-free millimeter-wave (MMW) ultra-wideband (UWB) signal based on conventional dual-drive Mach–Zehnder modulator (DMZM). One arm of the DMZM is driven by local oscillator (LO) signal. The LO power optimized to realize optical carrier suppressed modulation. other fed rectangular MMW UWB pulses are generated truncating continuous wave into pulsed one in photodetector (PD). eliminating baseband frequency components because launched PD keeps constant all time. proposed method theoretically analyzed and experimentally verified. centered at 26 GHz meets Federal Communications Commission spectral mask very well.
