Mice and Elephants Visualization of Internet Traffic

摘要: Internet traffic is composed of flows, sets packets being transferred from one computer to another. Some visualizations for understanding the set flows at a busy internet link are developed. These show graphically that dominated by relatively few “elephants”, and very large number “mice”. It also becomes clear “representative sampling” heavy tail distributions challenging task.
