Using Opioids With Surgical Patients: Nurses' Attitudes and Experiences.

摘要: Opioids such as morphine are effective analgesics and have been recognized worldwide for many years; yet, they underutilized. The study explores the attitudes experiences relating to opioids, in general, morphine, particular, among Jordanian surgical nurses. Attitudes Scale was used. A total of 123 questionnaires were distributed, 120 returned, achieving a response rate 96%. Focus group discussions (n = 4) conducted with nurses 34). majority believe that addiction is most serious side effects opioids. Qualitative analysis revealed 2 major themes. first theme referred "not being same boat," highlighting lack teamwork, comprised subthemes: blame culture physicians versus second "morphine last on list" also made up confidence fear legal persecution.
