摘要: The past century has witnessed a transformative shift in lung cancer from rare reportable disease to the leading cause of death among men and women worldwide. This historic reflects increase tobacco consumption worldwide, spurring public health efforts over several decades directed at cessation control. Although most cancers are still diagnosed late stage, there have been significant advances screening high-risk smokers, diagnostic modalities, chemopreventive approaches. Improvements surgery radiation advancing our ability manage early-stage disease, particularly patients considered unfit for traditional open resection. Arguably, dramatic progress occurred on therapeutic side, with development targeted immune-based therapy decade. article reviews major shifts landscape 100 years. many ongoing clinical challenges remain, this review will also highlight emerging molecular imaging-based approaches that represent opportunities transform prevention, early detection, treatment years ahead.
