摘要: Purpose: The purpose of this study is to describe the lived experience military nurse-parents separated from their children during deployment Iraq or Afghanistan, 2003–2010. Design and Methods: A qualitative using a phenomenological approach. Semistructured in-depth interviews were conducted with purposive sample 20 deployed Afghanistan. Three data-generating questions guided study: (1) What was leaving your wartime deployment? (2) How did you stay in contact while deployed? (3) Is there anything else want tell us about separation children? Interviews audio-recorded transcribed verbatim. Data saturation achieved, analysis procedures adapted Colaizzi. Results: Four themes emerged data: Impact Reality: Leaving My Children Behind; Childcare Arrangements: Putting Puzzle Together; Will They Remember Me: Staying Touch; (4) Caring For War-Injured Children: Reflections Home. Clinical Implications: Insight into war zone provides framework for additional research on parental war. Interventions need be tailored meet needs families.
