Pollen tube growth and self-incompatibility in three Ziziphus species (Rhamnaceae)

摘要: Abstract Self-incompatibility and synchronous protandrous dichogamy have previously been reported in Ziziphus species. In this work, we conducted a comparative analysis of fluorescence microscopy observations pollen tube growth following controlled cross pollinations emasculated flowers self-pollinations non-emasculated three species, Z. jujuba , mauritiana spina-christi with the aim to determine type self-incompatibility system each addition, test whether autonomous self-pollination, parthenocarpy or agamospermy occurs, were (or not) covered. Fruit set seed viability monitored. The presence binucleate grains cessation style suggest that operating studied species is gametophytically controlled. Controlled self-pollination Z . resulted fruits dropped off before maturation, whereas one two days after pollination. Following small lacking viable seeds obtained probably due stimulus provided by pollination (stimulative parthenocarpy). cultivar Tamar relatively high percentage seedless bagged without hand suggests can any stimulus.
