摘要: The European carbon monoxide (CO) budget is studied in relation to the synoptic circulation throughout 2001, using nested-grid configuration of GEOS-CHEM global model and CO measurements from 31 rural background stations. To meet aims this study, a seasonal type (CT) classification developed for Northern Hemisphere based on mean sea-level pressure (SLP) fields, as well two upper atmospheric levels, over 60-yr period. highest contribution surface concentrations attributed regional anthropogenic sources (up ~80%), which become more important under prevalence anticyclonic conditions. corresponding long-range transport (LRT) North America 18%) Asia 20%) found (lowest) winter spring (summer autumn). towards Europe intense cyclonic circulation, while both patterns favour LRT during other seasons. Occasionally (mainly spring), higher than one 45%). In free troposphere, increases, with largest impact originating Asia. This flow favoured by easterly summer, contributing up 30% Eastern Mediterranean season. On hand, levels decreases 22%. chemical production significant at all seasons, exceeding 50% troposphere summer.
