摘要: Mind-wandering has a controversial relationship with cognitive control. Existing psychological evidence supports the hypothesis that episodes of mind-wandering reflect failure to constrain thinking task-relevant material, as well apparently alternative view control can facilitate expression self-generated mental content. We assessed whether this apparent contradiction arises because consider differences in types thoughts occur during mind-wandering, and particular, associated level intentionality. Using multi-modal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) analysis, we examined cortical organisation underlies inter-individual descriptions spontaneous or deliberate nature mind-wandering. Cortical thickness, functional connectivity analyses, implicated regions relevant default-mode network for individuals who reported high rates In contrast, higher reports were thinning parietal posterior temporal left hemisphere (which are important cognition attention) heightened between intraparietal sulcus region spanned limbic ventral inferior frontal gyrus.
