摘要: For the last 40 years, study of cooperative breeding (CB) in birds has proceeded primarily context discovering ecological, geographical, and behavioral drivers helping. The advent molecular tools early 1990s assisted clarifying relatedness helpers to those helped, some cases, confirming predictions kin selection theory. Methods for genome-wide analysis sequence variation, gene expression, epigenetics promise add new dimensions our understanding avian CB, area developmental correlates delayed dispersal, as well ontogeny achieving parental status nature. Here, we outline key ways which modern -omics approaches, particular genome sequencing, transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling such ATAC-seq, can be used a level CB. Building on recent ongoing studies social behavior sociogenomics, review how high-throughput sequencing focal species or clade provide robust foundation downstream, context-dependent destructive non-destructive sampling specific tissues physiological states field expression epigenetics. -Omics approaches have potential inform not only diversification CB over evolutionary time, but real-time analyses interactions lab. Sociogenomics represents branch network methods help clarify different levels ultimately interact novel unexpected ways.
