摘要: Objective: With the increasing availability of automated health-care data, new methods are available to screen large populations for presence cancer diagnoses. However, it is crucial evaluate how completely incident cases can be ascertained using these data sources. Methods: We used capture–recapture techniques estimate total number breast occurring within one state during a 3-year period. then compared ascertainment by following two sources: claims surgery recorded in Medicaid and Medicare vs registry same state. Results: Medicaid–Medicare identified 68% estimated while 78%. Case improved markedly 91% when both Medicare–Medicaid sources were together. The sensitivity was lower among those aged under 65 non-white; women who 65, poor, non-white. Conclusions: Combining health insurance with population-based identification cancer, may particularly useful demographic groups found at highest risk under-ascertainment such as younger women, racial minorities.
