摘要: The purpose of this study was to demonstrate that the surface CaCO3 fillers can be coated with an N-halamine-based fatty acid make filler organophilic and simultaneously achieve antibacterial activity, rendering resulting polymer–filler composites antimicrobial. Thus, a new bifunctional compound, 4,4-dimethylhydantoin undecanoic (DMH-UA), synthesized by treating potassium salt dimethylhydantoin (DMH) 11-bromoundecanoic (BUA). Upon chlorination treatment dilute bleach, DMH-UA transformed into 3-chloro-4,4-dimethylhydantoin (Cl-DMH-UA). Alternatively, could onto obtain corresponding calcium salt, carbonate (DMH-UA-CaCO3).
