Multinational Enterprises, International Trade, and Productivity Growth: Firm-Level Evidence from the United States

摘要: We estimate international technology spillovers to U.S. manufacturing firms via imports and foreign direct investment (FDI) between the years of 1987 1996. In contrast earlier work, our results suggest that FDI leads significant productivity gains for domestic firms. The size is economically important, accounting about 14% growth in addition, there some evidence imports-related spillovers, but it weaker than FDI. paper also gives a detailed account why study different from those found previous work. This analysis indicates are likely generalize other countries periods.
