Task Effectiveness and Interaction Process of a Modified Nominal Group Technique in Solving an Evaluation Problem

摘要: This article reviews the research on Nominal Group Technique (NGT) and presents results of a laboratory investigation modified version NGT. The study compared effectiveness NGT, unstructured group work (UNS), pooled-individual efforts an evaluation task. It also assessed effects NGT UNS interaction process. Subjects were 351 first second-year university students who randomly assigned to 53 groups 47 groups, with 51 working as individuals. task used was Haney's (1979) Uncritical Inference Test. Measures process taken through audiotape recordings questionnaires. Results indicate that procedure is suitable for solving divisible tasks but less usefulfor unitary tasks. Implications managerial practice are discussed.
