摘要: This study investigated reading skills in 41 children with autism spectrum disorder. Four components of skill were assessed: word recognition, nonword decoding, text accuracy and comprehension. Overall, levels fell within average range although comprehension was impaired. However, there considerable variability across the sample performance on most tests ranging from floor to ceiling levels. Some read accurately but showed very poor comprehension, consistent a hyperlexia profile; some at words nonwords whereas others unable decode nonwords, despite reasonable level skill. These findings demonstrate heterogeneous nature ASD.
