摘要: The present study investigated the predictive value of locus control and internal-external attribution as they relate to learned helplessness in children. Forty four femal~s twenty seven males enrolled fifth sixth grades a private elementary school served subjects. Subjects were group administered Nowicki Strickland Locus Control Scale for Children KASTAN Attribution Rating Scale. They then exposed guessing task designed induce helplessness, subsequently tested on persistence task. It was expected that subjects would differ time based upon their orientation, attributional style. also hypothesized are orthogonal constructs. Finally, it be equally valuable predictors helplessness. Contrary experimental hypothesis, analysis revealed no significant differences orientation or dimension. research hypothesis variables being not supported, correlation procedure relationship. found predictor time, however style predicts confirmed by regression analysis. Characteristics simplicity offered possible reasons failure replicate previous findings; however, finding lends support reformulated model Treatment implications helpless children future directions discussed.
