摘要: The economic impact of infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis (IBK) warrants continued investigation the mechanisms by which Moraxella bovis survives on and colonizes corneal surface. Virulent strains M produce hemolysin exhibit different plasmid profiles than nonvirulent strains. Interactions among host, environment, vector, season, concurrent infection influence prevalence IBK. Mycoplasma sp. or rhinotracheitis virus may enhance hasten disease process. manifestations IBK range from mild conjunctivitis to severe ulceration, perforation, blindness. Treatment is dictated considerations, intended animal use, feasibility administration. Antibiotic therapy aimed at achieving drug concentrations in tears meet exceed minimum inhibitory concentration for prolonged periods. At present, not a preventable disease. Affected animals must be separated herd vector control vigorously instituted. Carrier identified removed herd. Vaccination trials have been unsuccessful because pili antigen cross-reactivity, variable strains, uncontrolled environmental factors. Recent investigations determined that utilize host iron sources via iron-repressible outer membrane proteins siderophores growth. Elucidation normal defense eye lead new strategies immune response against bovis.
