摘要: This paper describes an experimental evaluation of the crashworthiness characteristics a novel design for cost-effective crashworthy composite glass fibre-reinforced plastic (GFRP) sandwich structures. All samples are based on concept ‘‘double-layered” foam-filled block, i.e. two foam-core sheets which wrapped by reinforcement woven fabric, that acts as face and meanwhile ties core layers faces together, thus preventing catastrophic failure under axial loading conditions. The design, manufacturing crush testing rectangular blocks fabricated described. Special attention is focused analysis mechanics block collapse, emphasizing mechanisms related to crash energy absorption during compression with without use types collapse trigger mechanism. Experimental results indicated high crushing force efficiency was achieved up 80%.
