Culture of brown mussel at Vizhinjam

摘要: Results of experiments on the cuhure brown mussel in Vizhinjam Bay and open sea are given. 25-29 mm spat collected during October November from natural beds grown coir ropes suspended 5 x 4 m rafts grow to 66 size a period 8 months, giving an average growth 3.5 mm/month. In is still faster reaching 66 months at rate per month. The possibility production 150 tonnes mussels/ha bay has been indicated.
