摘要: Around 100 billion neurons in the human nervous system orchestrate an exceptionally wide range of motor, sensory, regulatory, behavioural, and executive functions. Such diverse functional output is product different molecular events occurring cells particularly, neurons. Morphologically, central (CNS) differ size, number complexity dendrites, synaptic connections, length axons distance across which connections are established, extent axonal myelination, other cellular characteristics. Neuronal diversity also amplified by inclusion chemical specificity on basis neurotransmitters, they use for transmission or neuromodulation. This great among neuronal populations a strong indication that although all contain same genetic code their genome, each population has own gene expression profile. While structures functions well documented, what less appreciated response to stresses adverse factors during aging as result neurodegenerative diseases. Furthermore, add already heterogeneous landscape, non-neuronal populations, often described ‘supporting matrix’ recently being recognized active, information-rich, counterpart CNS function.
