摘要: A study was conducted to determine the potential biological impact of open ocean disposal sediments dredged from a highly industrialized seaport system. Sediments dredge sites in Port Hampton Roads, Virginia were evaluated for acute toxicity. Three sediment fractions tested through series bioassay experiments with grass shrimpPalaemonetes pugio. Dissolved materials which would be released during operations did not produce significant lethal effects any tested. Also, fine suspended material associated significantly toxic most stations However, rapid observed solid phase few sites. Exposure shrimp deposited produced moderately low mortalities throughout ten-day experiment. The results indicate that, where observed, toxicity mainly solids. This trend has environmental implications operations, since probably dissipated quite rapidly dynamic environment an offshore site.
