摘要: There is no single instrument that can sample quantitatively the complete spectrum of pelagic organisms, or even all components zooplankton. Mesh size main factor affecting species selectivity in Continuous Plankton Recorder (CPR), implying a need to use multiple net systems fully characterize community. The spatial distribution copepod communities water masses western and eastern sectors Drake Passage were studied using, respectively, CPR Pump Net onboard system. For this purpose, assuming community structures each three similar both studied, possibility complementing results using Pump-Net system was evaluated. latter allows estimation absolute abundances has advantage solving two problems associated with CPR, namely mesh clogging low catching efficiency. contribution nauplius forms accurately identified samplers analyzed. Although Oithona similis dominated communities, sector small made greater than Calanus simillimus, opposite being true for sector. Nauplii early copepodite stages O. missing from samples represented between 69 79% total whereas calanoid copepods, C. simillimus copepodites later inaccurately sampled by 14 18% Hence, sampler useful semi-quantitative information its calibration.
