摘要: Background The interleukin-6 gene (IL-6) stimulates osteoclast development; therefore, it has been implicated in osteoporosis. In this study, the association of osteoporosis with three IL-6 markers (a CA dinucleotide repeat and two single nucleotide polymorphisms [SNPs]: G-174C G-572C) was tested Mexican population. Methods Population sample comprised 70 osteoporotic women, non-osteoporotic 500 subjects from general population who were genotyped for markers. SNPs analyzed by real-time PCR using 5′ exonuclease assay, whereas polymorphism evaluated capillary electrophoresis. allele−phenotype relationship statistical method STRAT that considered stratification results adjusted potential confounders a longitudinal multivariate model. Results We found C allele SNP A3 are associated increased bone mineral density (BMD) ( p = 0.19). concordance, heterozygous have higher BMD T score average values (90.75% −0.87, respectively) than those did not present any (81.4% −1.45, respectively). Likewise, CC genotype G-174 (96.5%) value (−0.33) bearing CG or GG (lumbar BMD, 88.5 79.98%, respectively; score: −1.07 −1.75, Conclusions may become useful
