摘要: Free-living starling (Sturnus vulgaris) were caught by mist netting. Blood samples taken from them between 20 sec and 4 min after capture assayed for corticosterone. Before 1 corticosterone levels constant (10.3 nmol litre−1) but they increased rapidly (27.0 ± 3.6 litre−1 min−1). Male female free-living starlings throughout the year with nets, traps placed in nest boxes. within of body weights recorded. Plasma varied 3 13 litre−1. In both sexes level was high during winter through breeding season. It fell to low late summer again autumn. Body weight highest midwinter lowest midsummer there no correlation plasma concentration.
