摘要: Abstract Interrelations among skeletal sites were examined in a population of up to 300 normal young white women aged 20–40 years. Measurements done on the radius shaft, ultradistal radius, and ulna using single-photon absorptiometry (SPA) lumbar spine, proximal humerus, femur dual-photon-absorptiometry (DPA). Because narrow range intrapopulation variance these women, intercorrelations not very high; average correlation ( r ) was 0.43 for bone mineral content (BMC) 0.45 density (BMD). The results at any one site predicted values other with standard error estimate (SEE) approximately 11% BMD 17% BMC. Even this relatively homogeneous sample, measurements single could be extrapolated indicate status sites. lesser extent BMD, influenced by body size much as has been observed both men postmenopausal women. Bone are preferably expressed because (a) variability is lower (10% versus 15% spine), (b) sites, even adjacent vertebrae, higher (c) influence (the weight 0.26 0,33 BMC).
