Attributions and Negative Affect as Moderators of PTSD Symptomatology and Aggression

摘要: Interpersonal violence has been identified as one of our nation’s most important public health concerns and empirically linked with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). In order to better understand the relationship between PTSD violence, we used Chemtob’s (1997) Survival Mode model examine role two potentially proximal factors linking violence; cognitive attributions negative affect. Undergraduate students (N = 628) completed an online screening study assess symptomatology. Based on results, 99 participants were recruited categorized having elevated symptomatology (High-PTSD) or minimal (Low-PTSD). Participants then Point Subtraction Aggression Paradigm (PSAP), a lab-based behavioral measure in which competed against confederate had points subtracted pre-programmed interval schedule.
