摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the optical interconnection networks. Ongoing advances in high-speed integrated circuit device technology along with increasing demand data communication, digital signal and image processing, neural network, machine vision systems necessitate design of efficient interconnections topology. In electrical interconnections, scope is limited by interference planar nature very large-scale (VLSI) circuits. The chip speed—in particular, interconnect delays. Intrachip connections pose further difficulty. Optical interconnects, because their inherent parallelism, high speed, negligible mutual interference, offer a reasonable solution to this intricate problem. techniques may provide an alternative means for fast, secure devices directly interior chip. computing research involving bistable devices, nonlinear Fabry–Perots, hybrid electrooptic interconnects has contributed two distinct, parallel architectures. One approach uses optics logic while other involves 2D arrays interconnected free-space. Free-space interconnection, turn, classified as either focused (obtained lens, beamsplitter, etc.) or unfocused imaging light through holographic elements). index-guided waveguide be space variant invariant.
