摘要: Medicinal plants contain an array of natural chemicals and often research has focussed on their pharmacological value. During 2004/2005, we investigated the potential bioactive in medicinal to inhibit plant growth using a Lemna (Lemna aequinoctialis) bioassay. Aqueous extracts from parts (viz. leaf, stem, bark, root etc.) 8 test species (Ageratum conyzoides, Acacia farnesiana, melanoxylon, Alphitonia excelsa, Castanospermum australe, Chamaesyce hyssopifolia, Melaleuca quinquenervia Phyllanthus virgatus) were added nutrient medium resulting 2% extract concentration. Then digital photographs, was measured for 7 days Scion computer software. Extracts all eight affected L. aequinoctialis, with strongest inhibition coming stem bark A. melanoxylon (98% 91% inhibition, respectively), leaf P. virgatus (91 % inhibition) conyzoides (88 inhibition).
