摘要: The goal of the US Virtual Herbarium (USVH) project is to digitize (database, image, georeference) all specimens in herbaria, enabling them be made available through a single portal. Herbaria house plants, fungi, and algae, so USVH will offer rich portrait biodiversity other countries represented herbaria. Equally importantly, working towards this engage people with herbaria organisms they house, expanding their appreciation both power informatics demands that it places on data providers while developing improved communication among those not funded but has strong support It works regional herbarium networks, some which existed prior project, others are still gestation. differs from most digitization projects its emphasis helping involved become part national enterprise, an aspect seen as critical creating resources needed develop sustain project. In paper, we present lessons have learned difficulties encountered during first few years
