摘要: This report presents observations on propagation of a mildly relativistic electron beam (γ=2.4) in several different gases (air, He, N2, and Ar) at low pressure (10–320 mTorr). At such pressures, with currents kiloamperes, beam‐induced ionization may result self‐focusing an beam. Beams propagating under this condition are said to be the ion‐focusing regime propagation. The injected has rms radius 0.7 cm transverse temperature 35 keV. Beam transport efficiency was measured for Ar. A simple calculation performed determine space‐charge neutralization fraction as function time. Using results calculation, charge‐transport is found compared experimentally quantity.
