摘要: Abstract Pupillary activity in darkness following exposure to strong bright light was recorded and found occur distinct phases, namely, (1) an initial dilation followed by (2) recontraction of several millimeters with relatively slow, large-amplitude pupillary oscillations for 4.5–6 min, (3) a phase gradually decreasing contraction without unrest lasting 8–12 (4) stable pupils after full size regained. Under these experimental conditions the appearance positive afterimage preceded latent period up 12 sec. The coincided afterimage, reduced or absent patients rod achromatopsia. later diminishing ended before disappearance negative had time course similar that recovery sensitivity bleaching. Both visual phenomena were depend on intensity duration adapting stimulus light. Similarity presence external steady brightness shown. Some possible mechanisms are discussed.
